Fred P. LoBue, Jr., Chairman of the Board
Like all the children of Fred LoBue, Sr., Fred grew up on one of the family orange groves, working there or in the packing house during summers and on school vacations. Fred began his career at LoBue in 1962 as an accounting assistant and (other than two years of military service) has worked at LoBue ever since. In 1996, when President Mario LoBue passed away, Fred assumed the titles of president and chief financial officer. Major innovations instituted by Fred during his tenure include computerizing grower reporting, sales and accounting systems; implementing a modern personnel management system; and developing an accelerated grower payment program. Fred represents LoBue Bros. in many industry organizations and trade associations. He is also involved in a number of community service efforts and serves on the board of a community bank. Fred holds a B.S. in Industrial Management from San Jose State University.
Philip R. LoBue, President and CEO
After graduating from the University of California, Davis in 1970 with a B.A. in Agriculture Business Management, Phil went on to earn an M.A. in Economics from North Carolina State. In 1972, he started working on LoBue’s new juice processing venture, now called California Citrus Producers, Inc. (CCPI). As vice president and general manager of the venture, he took the operation from start up to industry innovator, providing customers and partners alike with superior service and exceptional juice returns. In 1999, with the passing of LoBue Bros.’ long time general manager, G.A. Wollenman, he assumed responsibility for day-to-day operations of LoBue. Phil is eldest son of co-founder Mario LoBue.
Ron Lacey, Vice President & Marketing Consultant
After working in law enforcement for the U.S. government, Ron joined LoBue in 1980 in plant operations. In 1984, he began working with Joe LoBue in the sales department and soon assumed responsibility for day-to-day domestic sales. A stickler for customer service, Ron is also recognized as an innovator in developing and negotiating long-term, pre-sell programs. Ron has a B.A. in Criminology from California State University, Fresno. His late wife, Phyllis, was the daughter of co-founder Fred LoBue, Sr.
Thomas Joseph Wollenman, Vice President - Special Operations
Tom is a third-generation citrus grower-packer, with more than forty years dedicated to the California citrus industry. In 2005, he was appointed general manager of LoBue. Prior to joining LoBue, he was general manager at Tri Citrus for ten years. Tom has served in numerous volunteer positions for industry organizations, including California Citrus Mutual (current chairman and past director of the Market Committee); Central California Orange Growers Cooperative (current director and past chairman); and California Citrus Growers Association (current alternate director and past director).
Marketing & Sales
Joe LoBue, Vice President of Marketing
With nearly 30 years’ experience, Joe is widely recognized as an expert in marketing California oranges. After graduating from Cal Poly Pomona with a B.A. in Fruit Industries, Joe joined LoBue to work in plant operations, which included stints as shipping and packing supervisor. In 1974, he became the company’s sole sales representative, where he built a reputation for integrity with customers. In the late 70s, Joe became a pioneer in developing the Japanese export market, and he continues to maintain an extensive export program. In addition to serving as director of marketing, Joe oversees a sales staff and support personnel.
Jennifer LoBue, Domestic Sales Manager
Jennifer learned the citrus business from the ground up and one department at a time. Like others in her family, she spent junior-high and high-school breaks working in the family orange groves. In 2002, she earned a B.S. in Agricultural Business (with a minor in Business Administration) from California State University, Chico. She then began a formal internship at LoBue, which included immersion in all aspects of the business. From 2002 to 2004, Jennifer worked in export sales (vegetables and citrus) on the East Coast and in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2005, she joined LoBue in the sales department.
Chuck Plummer, Domestic Sales Representative
Chuck has over 25 years experience in the produce industry. After graduating from James Madison University in 1991 with a B.S. degree in Economics and Political Science, Chuck went to work for the USDA in Washington, D.C. where he spent 13 years as an Agricultural Economist. In 2004, Chuck and his family moved to the Central Valley to raise their children in the same town in which his wife was raised. Chuck spent the next 12 years working for a large produce marketing and distributing company before joining the LoBue Sales team in September of 2016. He has been a valuable addition to the team so far and we can't wait to see what the future holds for him.
Laurie Williams, Sales Associate
Laurie has been with LoBue since moving to the San Joaquin Valley from Seattle, WA in 1990. She has served as Customer Service Manager while simultaneously working as support to the sales team. Laurie is now working in domestic sales and is a great asset to the lineup.
Richard Sholander, Field Operations Manager
Richard grew up in Southern California and earned a B.A. Agricultural Business Management from Cal Poly Pomona in 1987. His citrus industry experience includes work in farming, harvesting operations and packing house field management. Since joining LoBue in 1998, LoBue growers have appreciated Richard’s knowledge of farm practices and fruit quality, along with his up-to-the-minute knowledge of the groves he oversees.
Tony Vasquez, Field Representative
Tony started his career with LoBue in 1991. He worked his way through the ranks to assistant supervisor and then to lead supervisor in the packing department, where he excelled for many years. In 2007, Tony began assisting the field department with the launch of each new season, performing so well that when a full-time position became available he was asked to work full-time in field operations.
Robert S. LoBue, General Manager of LoBue Farms
Robert was appointed general manager in 1980. He directly oversees all aspects of farm management, including financial and technical, as well as labor relations. Through his efforts at property acquisition and development, the family’s total citrus acreage has nearly doubled during his tenure. Robert has also been involved in numerous industry associations and commissions. He earned a B.A. in Agricultural Business Management from University of California, Davis. After graduating in 1973, he worked for the Federal Land Bank as an appraiser and loan officer. In 1977 he joined the family operation, first in the packing house and later assuming various farming duties from Fred LoBue, Sr. Robert is the son of LoBue Bros. co-founder, Mario LoBue.
